About Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya
Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya is a women’s college which offers Higher Secondary courses and Bachelor degree courses in the field of humanities. It was established in the year 1981 by a group of prominent citizens of Digboi under the able leadership of Dwijesh Chandra Deb Sarmah in order to promote women education in the region. Swarnalata Gogoi was the founder principal of the college, and later on it was developed and nurtured by Dr. Kanteswar Deka into its current prestgious position. Digboi Mahila Mahavidyalaya boasts 11 departments – 8 departments (Assamese, Economics, Education, English, Home Science, Philosophy, Political Science and Sociology) offer Major courses to the students, and the remaining three departments (Bengali, Hindi and History) offer General courses. The college is blessed with dedicated and highly-qualified faculty members across every department, and its students have consistently performed excellent results at all levels.

It is a great pleasure for us that our college is going to complete another eventful year and looking forward for a new academic year 2017-18, which will bring new hope, aspiration and direction to this premier Institution of Women’s Higher Education in the eastern most part of the country.
We have completed 35 years and educating one thousand students annually under both two year higher secondary course, Arts (HSSLC) and B. A. (Degree Course) programme at present.
